I am Doctor Paracosm, and I enjoy creating stories and transforming them into stories, mainly science and fantasy. My inspirations come from famous authors such as C.S. Lewis and Tolkien, historical figures and events, and anime such as HunterxHunter and Attack on Titan. While all these subjects do not directly relate to each other, I use inspiration from them to write not what is popular but what is ethical.

When it comes to inspiration from books, what I take from them is how themes are written. C.S. Lewis has written his Chronicle of Narnia series based on biblical stories. Reading how The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe reflect the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ motivated me to write stories in similar ways. Tolkien, who was friends with C.S Lewis, wrote The Lord of the Rings books around the themes of war, greed, and lust for power, all in its organic world. The writing style of both of these legends I strive to do when I write stories based on biblical stories and principles.

To be as original as one possibly can, a story, even if it’s fiction, needs to be grounded in some form of reality or knowledge. The best way I do that is by looking at figures and events of the past. What times in history depends on the book I’m writing. If I write about a fantasy world with a medieval setting, I look at the history behind it. Similarly, I look to American history when      writing a story that takes place in America. Sometimes, I research mythological creatures for ideas on how to write the lore of a fantasy world. C.S. Lewis had done the same when he included fauns, centaurs, and minotaurs.

While anime and manga aren’t traditional literature unless you count light novels, they have influenced how I write details of characters, images, and fight scenes. However, it’s not just details that the genre has inspired. There are great works such as HunterxHunter, Code Geass, Jojo Bizzare Adventure, and the Ghibli films that have their own themes and philosophies that one can reflect on regarding life in general or one’s own life.

I could go on about each topic, book, historical event, anime, or biblical story that inspires my writing, but if I did that, this post would be too long. So, I will regularly make blog posts about my books, my inspirations, and any writing advice I may have. If you are interested and like to follow and comment on my posts, it would be greatly appreciated.

I look forward to sharing what I have to share.
